NEPSE Crosses 3,000 Points Mark Amid Significant Turnover

Kathmandu: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) surpassed the 3,000-point threshold on Thursday, closing at 3,000.81 points after rising by 43.05 points, a 1.45% increase from the previous trading day.

The market experienced a substantial surge in daily turnover, recording Rs 29.9 billion through the exchange of 68,980,346 units of shares from 334 companies across 311,536 transactions. This represents a notable increase from Wednesday's turnover of Rs 23 billion.

In terms of stock performance, 105 companies saw their share prices rise, while 137 companies declined, and one company remained unchanged. Notably, Butwal Power Company Limited (BPCL), Rastriya Beema Company Limited (RBCL), and Modi Energy Limited (MEL) each recorded a 10% increase in their share values. On the other hand, Nepal Finance Limited (NFC) experienced a 10% decline.

Alongside the rise in the benchmark index, the sensitive index, which tracks the performance of class 'A' stocks, also rose by 3.08%. The float index, which measures the performance of actively traded shares, increased by 1.98%.

However, the market saw mixed results across different sectors. Five sectors recorded losses, including Finance (-3.05%), Others (-2.30%), Manufacturing and Processing (-1.73%), Life Insurance (-0.73%), and Microfinance (-0.13%). Conversely, seven sectors posted gains, with the Banking sector leading the way with a 5.65% increase, followed by the Investment sector at 2.69% and the Mutual Fund sector at 2.28%.
